The Minnesota Welcome Center provides free information and services to help people from foreign countries now living in the United States find the support and resources they need to succeed in the community.

Classes

All classes are offered free-of-charge.

Learn Basic Conversational English

EnglishConnect 1
EnglishConnect 1 is for beginning-level learners who are learning basic English conversation skills.
Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-8:30 pm

EnglishConnect 2 is for advanced beginning to intermediate-level learners of basic English conversation skills.

Our staff can meet confidentially with individuals and couples to discuss needs, provide guidance, and make referrals to the many other free resources available within our community.

Hours:

Self-Reliance Groups

Self-Reliance

Learn skills and adopt habits that will enable you to provide for yourself and your family. Classes are taught in Spanish and are held in person at the Minnesota Welcome Center within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3921 Nicollet Ave S, Minneapolis, MN.

Emotional Resilience

This course is designed to teach essential skills for dealing with life's challenges and disappointments. You'll also learn from the experiences and help of other group members.

  • Meeting times: Wednesdays, 7-9:00 pm

Cultural Adaptation Classes
These classes are intended to help immigrants better understand the culture of their new home. Each class is taught in Spanish both in person and over Zoom.

Overcome Addictions

Addiction Recovery Classes
Our addiction recovery support groups can help those struggling with an addiction or compulsive behavior. Weekly meetings teach addiction recovery principles from a Christian faith perspective.
Those who attend a recovery meeting will receive support, help, and fellowship from others in similar circumstances as well as from group facilitators. You can attend these free meetings in person or over the phone. Participants remain anonymous to one another, and all information shared will remain confidential.
Schedule: Wednesdays, 12:00pm (many other non-local options available by Zoom or phone)
This is a virtual class on Zoom, facilitated in English.
